When you visit a wedding hall, you look at the decoration, the view, the size, the parking. But how many couples think about the acoustics? Very few. Yet it is one of the most decisive factors for the quality of your dance party.
Stone walls, typical of castles and renovated farms, create significant natural reverberation. The sound bounces off the hard surfaces and creates an echo effect that can make the music muddy if the DJ does not adapt. Conversely, a modern hall with curtains, carpet and low ceilings absorbs the sound and requires more power to fill the space.
The DJ's role is crucial in this adaptation. At Prestige Sound, we carry out a technical survey of each venue, either in person or via photos and plans. We then adjust our installation: choice of speakers (directional for large halls, compact for intimate spaces), strategic positioning (height, angle, distance), sound equalisation according to the materials of the hall, and volume management in line with any sound limiters.
Sound constraints are increasingly common in Belgium. A sound limiter at 85 dB does not mean your evening will be a failure. It means you need a DJ who knows how to work differently: more sub-bass felt in the body (which is not picked up by the limiter), clear and defined mids, and a dance floor positioned as close as possible to the speakers. With the right technique, an evening at 85 dB can be just as festive as an evening at 100 dB.
