Deciding on the format
Classic slow dance, prepared choreography or spectacular surprise? Each format has its advantages. The traditional slow dance remains the most popular choice: intimate and moving. The choreography impresses guests and creates a unique memory. The surprise (a music switch mid-slow, a flashmob) is the 2026 trend going viral on social media.
Rehearsing (even a little)
Even for a simple slow dance, a few rehearsals make all the difference. You'll be less nervous and more natural on the day. For a choreography, plan 4 to 6 sessions of practice. Pro tip: rehearse in shoes similar to your wedding ones. We can provide you with the exact version of the track for your rehearsals, with the right tempo and duration.
Preparing the mix
A full track often lasts 3 to 5 minutes, which can feel like an eternity in the spotlight. We create a custom mix that smartly shortens the track (ideally 1m30 to 2m30), links to a second song if wished, or builds a surprise transition to a dance track to draw guests onto the floor.

How long should the first dance last?
The ideal length is 1 minute 30 to 2 minutes 30. A full track (3-5 minutes) is often too long: guests lose interest and the couple feels uncomfortable. We create a custom mix that smoothly shortens the track while keeping the best passages. If you opt for a slow + upbeat dance sequence, count on about 3 minutes in total.
Can you switch music in the middle of the dance?
Absolutely, and it's even the big 2026 trend! The idea: you start with a romantic slow, then the music suddenly switches to an upbeat track (often a hit everyone knows). The surprise effect is guaranteed. We prepare the custom mashup (personalised mix at 130 € 100 € −30 € excl. VAT) so the transition is perfect and natural. It's also the chance to invite the witnesses or family onto the floor.
Do you need dance lessons for the first dance?
It's not mandatory, but strongly recommended if you want a choreography. For a classic slow, a few rehearsals at home are enough. The key is to feel at ease. Our advice:
- For a slow: no lessons needed, but rehearse 2-3 times
- For a simple choreography: 3-4 lessons with a teacher
- For an elaborate choreography: 6-8 lessons, start 2 months ahead

What if one of us can't dance?
No panic, that's the case for most couples! A slow dance requires no particular skill: you simply hold each other and sway gently. Emotion counts far more than technique. If dancing really stresses you, opt for a short format (1m30) or a surprise version with a quick music switch. Humour and spontaneity always work better than a failed choreography!
