Selection criteria

What distinguishes a pro from an amateur

4 essential things to check.

Wedding experience

At least 50 weddings — knows how to manage a multi-generational crowd and coordinate the key moments.

Professional equipment

Sound tailored to your hall, LED lighting, backup gear. Nothing amateurish.

Preparation

Initial video call, detailed questionnaire, client area for the playlist.

Verified reviews

Google reviews (the most reliable), Mariages.net. A few 4/5 = normal, better than 100% 5/5.

Before you book

10 questions to ask

Check the DJ's professionalism.

1. How many weddings have you hosted?

Look for a DJ with at least 50 weddings of experience. At Prestige Sound, we have hosted 500+ events in Belgium.

2. Will you personally be there on the day?

Some agencies send a different DJ than the one you met. Make sure the person you have been dealing with is the one who will be there.

3. What equipment do you use?

Ask which brands and models of sound and lighting equipment they use. A pro uses recognised gear (LD Systems, Shure, etc.).

4. What happens if you are ill on the day?

A pro always has a plan B with a qualified replacement DJ. At Prestige Sound, we have a team of 4 DJs, with backup guaranteed in the contract.

5. How does the preparation work?

Preparation video call, detailed questionnaire, client area for the playlist. The more thorough the prep, the better the evening.

6. Can we choose our playlist?

Absolutely! And also the tracks to avoid. A good DJ respects 100% of your musical choices.

7. What time do you arrive for set-up?

At least 2h before the start of the evening for set-up and sound checks. That is non-negotiable for a pro.

8. Are travel costs included?

Clarify this from the start to avoid surprises. With us, any travel costs (beyond 50 km) are clearly set out in the quote.

9. How much is the deposit?

Usually 30% at booking. At Prestige Sound, the balance is paid no later than 7 days before the event.

10. Do you have professional liability insurance?

Mandatory for professionals. Ask for a certificate if your reception venue requires it.

Trends 2026

What makes the difference this year

Trend

DJ + Saxophonist

THE major trend: the sax improvises over the hits, creating a unique live dimension.

Trend

Sound for secular ceremonies

Sound is essential so that all guests can hear the vows.

Trend

Architectural lighting

LED uplights in warm colours (amber, pink, champagne) transform your hall.

Trend

Photobooth with instant sharing

Photos printed instantly + sent by email/SMS. The perfect addition to your entertainment.

Classic pitfalls

The 6 mistakes to avoid

1. Choosing on price alone

The cheapest DJ is never the best choice. You pay for experience and reliability.

2. Booking too late

Good DJs are booked 12-18 months ahead for popular dates.

3. Not meeting the DJ beforehand

A 30-minute video call will spare you many surprises.

4. Forgetting to check the equipment

Ask for photos of the set-up. A pro DJ proudly shows off their gear.

5. Not reading the contract

Check the cancellation terms, overtime, and what is included.

6. Entrusting the music to a friend

Even if your cousin "knows their stuff", a wedding calls for a true professional.
